Please help me with this. About 5-6 years ago, I read the most amazing story on the Internet. "Story" isn't really the right word, it was basically a novel. Techinically it was an extremely long "fanfic." But the author said she was eventually going to change the names, take it off the internet, and get it published. And trust me, it was so amazing I have a hard time believing it wouldn't get published.

All traces of her and her work are gone from the internet. I imagine she's been published. But how can I find her book? I did a search on the original title but I got nothing. I also forgot nearly everything about the story. All I know is her first name, Lyn--which may have been a fake name, and she may have published with a different name.

I'm dying to read this story again. I never read the end. But how can I find it? There's got to be a way. Anyone got any advice?

If you have a name, try surfing the web. If you still can't find her, she hasn't been published yet. Something to keep in mind: FanFic isn't likely to get published, unless there's a FanFic magazine. FanFic websites are popular, but it's all licensed material. They can't publish it without permission from the original creators. Changing the names is a good idea, though I'n not too sure how far that will get her. If she uses the same terms or ideas, the original creator may get suspicious. The best I can offer you is to keep a lookout everywhere for the story. Sorry I can't help you more.

If you remember what show/book/idea the fanfic was based on you could try putting in that name into a search engine along with fan fiction and see what comes up. You can also take a look at fanfiction.net to see if she has anything there, or if you can at least pick up a name.
