What's a produce center?

Anyway, stores similar to Wal-Mart are:

El Corte Ingles (a big spanish department store chain with stores also in Portugal).

Continente is Portugal's largest supermarket chain.

Carrefour has also stores in Portugal.

The closest thing to Wal-Mart in Europe (BTW, Germany does have Wal-Mart) is a store called "Carrefour". It is a French chain that has stores all over Europe. It is a little different than Wal-Mart...perhaps just a tad more upscale...not much, but they have food, clothes, home goods, etc. Check out the Carrefour Portugal link here: http://www.carrefour.pt/
