I just moved in to a house and it has a Brinks home security system. How do I change the code just to run it before I get the service? You can email me if you need more details.

The former owners should have given you their access codes. Depending on the system and installer, there may be a 'back door' to enter the programming mode to reset the numbers. The Brinks people should be able to help you out. If the former owners disabled the 'back door' entrance and are unavailable to supply you the access numbers you have two options. You can either send the main panel to an alarm shop to reset or have the entire thing replaced. You will likely be able to reuse most of the motion and door sensors, but everything else would have to go.
