Do they take it seriously? Or think it's just another roommate, or that maybe the couple are trying out living together before getting married?

I'd like some parents insight on this I guess.

Two of my adult children are living with partners, unmarried. I accept it. I would have preferred t hat they had gotten married, etc. (both have a child/children with their chosen partner), but I am a "60's" child myself, and haven't made a big deal over it. Just had hoped they had more sense than I did, lol! Biggest hurdles have been smoothing things out with their grandparents.... but the great grandchildren seem to have managed that! Babies have a way of charming their way into the hearts, esp of great grandparents!

Both of these adult kids lived with a previous partner prior to the one they are with, and in both cases, I am so relieved and pleased that they left the other, and like the ones they are with now, and they all seem happy, which is most important to me.

Unfortunately my daughter is living with her boyfriend, I am not happy about her decision, but it is her decision. At least, she picked a nice guy, but if doesn't work out.... I will be there for her and hunting him down (just joking). Sometimes, you have to let your kids grow up, make their mistakes, and hope you did a good job.

I think parents hate it. At least mine do. My Mom is from the old school of thought that says "Who will buy the cow when they get the milk for free".
