Latitude of the place, i.e. if you're closer to the equator you're closer to the sun.

It can also depend of the eleveation of the location you are in. If you are on the outside of an airplane, you will be closer to the sun.

Of course weather and such also makes a difference but the answer you are looking for is LATITUDE.
