"diplomatic immunity" means just that...they are immune from prosecution for ANY crime...
however, they can be removed from the country...
THEN they get in trouble in their OWN country...and they are finished..
one would hope that diplomats would be tried in their own country for crimes in any other country...but it doesn't always happen..
it's not a perfect system...but one that we must live with until it is changed....ever so slowly..

Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961 Foreign Embassy enjoy diplomatic immunity ) most embassy staff enoy immunity from arrest and imprisonment although there are exceptions ..
Yes they can commit murder and get away with it.In 1982 PC Yvonne Fletcher was shot dead near the Iranian Embassy by Iranian diplomats and all that happened was that the murderer (s) were expelled from the UK.
They can however if the host requests be stripped of they`re diplomatic immunity or tried when they return home. Never heard of it happening though.

Yes, it's totally disgusting. You name it they are immune from prosecution over it. The only thing that is allowed is expulsion. The government can also complain to the government of the diplomat who has offended. It is also possible for the government to cut off diplomatic relations with the county concerned.
This should be scraped, diplomats should be subject to the law of the country they are visiting.

They can't be tried in the USA either?
But they can be tried within their own government if they so choose, after deportation. China sometimes has immediately executed Tong members who assassinated people here upon re-entry into China? But then what about all the other assassinations that have been done in the name of government CiA, KGB, etc., Murder is murder isn't it? Only you have to be a very powerful government to get away with murder eh?

Hi,

The simple answer is yes if the offender has diplomatic immunity. You can't even give them a parking ticket. They would simply be expelled from the country.

They have immunity from everything. The don't have to pay for a ticket and cant be brought up on murder charges even if they laugh at the police while telling who they murdered while they were here under immunity.

to boot OJ? Yeah, there's a case in Maine the place a guy has killed (allegedly) 2 women. in no way convicted--simply by fact no physique of the crime ever became got here across. He then moved to Texas killed a female, and tried yet another. became finally caught, and to ward off Texas' dying penalty--admits to the Maine murders to serve his sentence in Maine.
