Depends on your deffinition of "cheap." There's a way to swap the top end out for a 2.3 Quad 4 head, cams, and manifolds that will jack the CR to 11:1 and give you about 200bhp on a NA engine. The swap, assuming you don't mess up or combine incompatible parts, should run from ~$500 if you go as cheap as possible, upwards of ~$2500 if you do it right. The more you spend, effectively, the more reliable it will be and the more power from a FI setup it'll be able to take.

cheapest way is too start out with a cold air intake, and some good cat back exhaust. i believe pacesetter makes headers. also just so you know Hypertech doesnt work with the 2.4l. you can get a supercharger kit, but it aint cheap. heres a link

putting on a intake and exhaust/muffler. it really is extremely a lot a uncomplicated thanks to get the most inexpensive that could be round $four hundred-$500 depending what sort your getting. do not except to a lot HP income in spite of the undeniable fact that, no money = no hp income. i might want to point no longer getting too low-priced of aftermarkets, because ultimately you'll have low-priced elements which will damage. imagine a plastic intake thats repainted to make it look authentic...

hypertech-----which will reprogram the computer and replace the air filter with a k & n filter system. Also change the muffler to a high flow muffler.
