i think the PS3 is awesomea and definately worth gettin. and i kno its real costly but i actually found a site that's offering cheaper ones. if you put in your zip code at http://doiop.com/findPS3 , they'll give you info on shipments and quantity of PS3s at the stores

No. I have many game systems, but do not plan to buy the PS3 any time soon. I do, however, have the Wii and XBox 360. The PS3 at the moment doesn't offer anything beyond what these systems do as far as games go. The Wii is definitely the more fun of the two, though XBox 360 has better graphics.

The PS3 *may* be worth it in the future, if new games come out that are optimized for the PS3. That is not guaranteed. Sony has bungled the launch and it is not clear when, if ever, PS3 will take off like the PS2 did. In this situation, developers will develop for other platforms - like XBox 360 - first, then port to the PS3. Thus, PS3 games will be non-exclusive, and will not look much better than on the XBox 360. The only reason to buy would be if you really want a blu-ray player.

I say, wait and see how the PS3 works out, and hopefully there will be a price drop, before spending your money.

Ok, first need to clear up some information being given... Only one version of the PS3 is backwards compatible, and that's the 60GB, and I do believe that version has been discontinued. All other versions will only play PS3 games. I have both systems as well. Brought the PS3 for the blu-ray player (considering most blu-ray players on their own are over $300, there isn't much difference), the graphics, and variety of games. This is my gamer system (mercs 2 looks pretty freakin' cool) I bought the Wii for the interactivity and the family-friendly qualities. Games are a bit simplistic, but we enjoy it as a family as great deal. If you have the ability, I would suggest both. If you must choose one, determine what type of games you enjoy paying. PS3 is more hard-core gamer, while the Wii is more casual, but enjoyably interactive.

If you have the WII, play that silly games till PS3 will be cheaper and more perfect, coz the first model have always some crashes, freezing, not recognize the old PS2,PSX games.

If I were you I would not until later on there are not that many games out for it and the ones that are out aren't that good. I have the PS3 and just beat Fall Of Man Resistance but it wasn't that great.
