As always, buyer beware. Do your research. Better Business Bureau has free access to websites/online stores that have good, or bad ratings. Some sites may say they have immediate stock, but you end up waiting 6 weeks (personal experience). Your best bet is to purchase online from a reputable source (check through www.mysimon.com they have reviews from past purchasers) and use a protected credit card.

Keep an eye on your credit card invoicing.

Another tip is to verify that their customer service system works well BEFORE you purchase (or have a problem). Find out if you can talk to a human being on their toll free line, or if they reply to emails.

Another tip is to use a search engine to check for public forum complaints. Example "www.onlinestorename.com scam" or "www.onlinestorename.com crooks". You will be surprised what kind of horror stories you will find.

Be vary careful dealing with ebayers (check their ratings and comments).

Again, do your research, be prepared to wait, use a credit card (that is insured against theft, etc...), and be patient.

Hope that helps.

Oh, and you CAN find some great deals by checking out if your local electronics "Big-Box" store has a location where they have liquidation items. You can even find this information on their websites. Demo, and floor models that may have a scratch on them might go for 40% off list price, and still have all accessories and full warranty.

Cheers!

It is safe to buy stuff online. I don't know about all sites, but you can do shopping online at Circuit City, BestBuy, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, target, Sears and Amazon.com to name a few. Just be careful and pay with a credit card and look for that locked padlock in the lower right hand corner when you start to input you credit card/personal info. Some places use pay-pal as a go between, and so far as I know, that's good.
