No dirty answers plz =D. I want to quit smoking but I'v realized that when I'm with a group of people a cigarette will give me a focus, something to do with my hands, something to keep me occupied. I dont really smoke a lot when i'm alone, just in social situations. I wont know what to do with myself when I dont smoke. Anyone have any tips?

just hang in there,...i quit smoking in 98 and it was tough, so i do know what you are dealing with...what to do with your hands? carry a sketch book or tablet and pencil...sketch, or doodle, or write poetry, i also practiced strangling the smart alecks and nay-sayers...you won't believe what a nasty disposition directed at those clowns can do...try it, you may like the results, i know i did.
and prepare to feel disconnected for some weeks, and unfocused, but it will return without the nicotine in time...

I too am trying to quit. I m using the vape and that really helps my cravings. But I was having a hard time with my hands. I own a daycare, so I have lots of arts and craft material around. I took a pipe cleaner and strung beads on it , closed the ends so it looks like a braclet. My kids have made these 1000 times. But I can work the beads. Push them from one end to the other. Roll them around and around. And, since the pipe cleaner is bendy, I can twist it. It seems to help

That depends on your situation. If you're receiving the second-hand smoke from acquaintances or public smoking areas, it's in your power to avoid them. However, if you're receiving the second-hand smoke from family or friends, establish a zero-tolerance policy for smoking around you, and refuse to be in the same room as a lighted cigarettes. If you're unable to do that (e.g., the smokers live in the same house as you) do everything in your power to convince them to quit, from nicotine patches to group therapy sessions. Their smoking is hurting you as well as themselves.

Drink water. Every time you want a cigarette just drink a glass of water. Also, you should wear the patch or use nicorette gum. Then you will not notice that you want a cigarette. You could try playing with your cell phone. Cigarette addiction is most powerful because it is a chemical addicition and the habit part is a lot easier to get over than the chemical addiction.

I used straws that i had cut down to cigarette size. Might try toothpicks or even i've heard of people using a couple of ball bearings. Just something to keep the hands busy.

I took up knitting. Knitted 4 sweaters the first winter I quit smoking.

Yea! If you like licorice (or however you spell that) then sit and eat that, or twist it around in your mouth, so you have something to do with your hands.

Or use those little "fake ciggarettes", you know, the little mint sticks? Just use that instead of a real ciggarette.
