Each circuit served by the circuit breaker panel is controlled by a switch that will flip off automatically if there is a short circuit or overload. When tripped, some breakers flip to the OFF position; others flip to the middle position. To reset a breaker that is in the tripped position, wait a minute for the heater strip to cool, then push the toggle to OFF, then to ON. If the breaker snaps off again immediately, disconnect the garage door opener, or inspect the circuit for a short. If the problem is not a short circuit or an overload, have an electrician inspect the panel. You can do this if you know how and can do it safely.

Before working on a switch, outlet, or fixture, turn off the circuit that supplies power to the device by flipping the breaker toggle to the full OFF position. Work only in dry conditions, use one hand, and do not touch any metal parts with the other hand. In an emergency, the entire system can be shut down by flipping off the main breaker.

If you are talking about a door opener it sounds like the door may be binding and putting too much stress on the opener causing an overload. Or, it may be possible that the opener is simply out of adjustment needing the up/down force adjusted.
