First, turn off the electricity to the socket. Second, get a large raw potato and cut it in half. Third, press potato into socket until it gets a good grip on the broken bulb. Unscrew light bulb and make sure all pieces are out. Fourth, put in a new bulb and throw away the used potato.

This sounds weird, but I read this in a book. Cut a potato in half and push it onto the socket. Twist the potato until the broken bulb comes out. Make sure the switch is off.

did the glass smash? or did purely the glass come out? no matter if it is the first, do because the others have reported. if it is the 2d; turn off the breaker or unscrew the fuse, or unplug the lamp. get a pair of needle nostril pliers and grip the component of the metallic base, taking care to no longer grip the socket, bend in somewhat and then twist counter clockwise. i examine that maximum human beings turn bulbs in too tightly, and in so doing bending the midsection button interior the socket. that leads to us having to instruct the recent bulb in even tighter to get a good connection. wish this helps, good success, and chuffed holiday journeys!!!

Well this is what I've been told but. Get a potato and slice it in half. Now make sure the light switch is off! Then use the half of the potato and press it against the light bulb remains. then turn counter clockwise. it should work as long as the bulb isn't extremly tight. then you might have to use soething like pliers..

I have done this several times myself, Use a small rubber handled screwdriver. Put the back end of the screwdriver in the
broken end and it will unscrew right out. It has to be the size of the broken end of the bulb.

If you are sure the light switch is off, using a potato, pushed hard into the base of the bulb where the glass broke off and turning the base out often works, but you can get a rude shock if the light sn't turned off.On a lamp. unplug it, otherwise you might want to shut off the breaker for that light to be sure.
