I just bought a 2007 Honda Civic Si, and I wanted to put a Turbo in it, BUT, I want to know if there is anyway to turn on or turn off the turbo manually (i.e. a switch) because turbo's tend to soak up a lot of gas, and with the gas prices these days... whatever I can save help.

It isnt impossible, but I have never seen it even in magazines or on TV and I saw alot so dont try to do that. And yes a Turbo will hurt your gas mileage. Because when you increase the air you put in your engine you also have to increase the gas and it might be more or less efficient depending on alot of different things like what kind, and who installs it. And you can get a certain Turbo application that would wait till 3000 rpm to kick in. But make sure you ask about that because some kick in earlier than that. Oh yea and I got a civic Si too they bad *** huh? But a turbo would be pretty expensive and I cant think of any that are out right off hand being that the Si just came out.

You can get whats called a boost controller and "tell" the turbo at what engine speed to "spool up" or build pressure, That way for normal driving the turbo wil not "activate" until higher engine rpm's.

a turbo on a car doesn't use more gas it only increases the air flow to the fuel system, making it in fact more efficient while at the same time increasing speed. and unless it is done by Honda
or of a place that they approve of you will lose the warranty.

If you get a turbo'd car, you're not supposed to complain about gas prices. Maybe don't turbo the car? Besides, you might void your warranty (if you have one) by doing so.

there is that this element stated as a waste gate, whose function is to open at a sequence quantity of advance letting the exhaust gasoline by skill of-bypass the swifter. an electric powered actuator could desire to be put in to tug it open in any respect situations, and it may desire to have a change to deactivate it. yet another answer is to get one that activates a low adequate stress that the swifter could spin (to maintain the shaft from warping and likewise save from putting severe limit interior the intake facet of the engine) that for all useful purposes there's no advance.

Put an electric clutch on the drive belt and a switch for the clutch where you can get to it.

a turbo doesn't even work until you hit 3,000 RPM so just watch your RPM while driving and try to keep it below 3,000.
