Hospitals run on budgets which are determined by the cost of running the hospital. Right now under the present system hospitals need you to pay in order to cover the cost of what they have to pay. In Canada we have universal health care which is under threat because of the cost involved. Keeping people alive is one thing but giving someone a nose job just because they think their nose is too big is not life threatening and therefore requires payment from patients if they want this done. Similarly on down the line, pay for what is not required to keep you healthy. Now in the USA things may be different.

A hospital will charge you for the air you breathe...literally! So go over your billing with a fine-toothed comb. Hospital charges are not written in stone. They negotiate regularly with insurance companies and collect percentages of the total charges. Dispute anyones that you question without hesitation! They would rather get paid something than risk getting nothing. Godloveya!

Since hospitals are for-profit organizations, all services should be charged. I don't understand why you would think you should get services from anyone without paying for them.

IVF. This planet is already overpopulated. Infertility is natures way of reducing the population but people are getting round it with ivf.
Adoption should be recommended to people first instead of spending NHS funds on unnecessary procedures.
Also people who go to A&E with stupid things (bumps, bruises). Tell them it will cost them £100 to be treated for a scraped knee and they will clear off and make way for real emergancies.
And drug addicts. Instead of paying for rehab, buy them loads of drugs and let them overdose. Gets the scum off the planet and frees up rehab clinics to be used for more important things.
I could go on all night but I think that is enough to be getting on with.

An easier question would be; What don't they charge for?
I don't think they charge for the waiting room.
