peppermint. Buy some oil of peppermint, add it to some water and pour it down one of the holes you find.

I remember how we used to do it at my farm. First you find all the gopher holes (this is really hard, took us a week). Then you build something like a nest on each of the holes but the two furthest ones, using grass, pine anything green Then you set the 'nests' on fire which makes a lot of smoke, and that pushes the gophers out into the two farthest holes where you can either trap them humanely and relocate them, or where you can humanely put them down with a 12ought shotgun.

My dog keeps the gophers out of my garden! You may want someone (cat or dog) who is always on the job....trapping and poisoning is always a temporary job! They can breed a new liter as fast as you can trap and poi sen them. These gophers are a real problem! Just like cockroaches...if they suddenly became a delicacy you sure wouldn't see any around.

cats. our farm yard is completely free of gophers, and the neighbor is infested with them cuz he doesnt have any cats at all. we have 3 and they keep the yard and house free of all rodents. ive heard that some dogs are good at killing gophers too. Jack Russell terriers are pretty good at it, i think.

I know you're going to think I'm nuts, but a large pack of unwrapped Juicy fruit gum does the trick. Ground hogs, Gophers, moles, woodchucks seem to love this stuff. They're unable to digest it, and they die.

altho there are many ways to rid them, I have found; now this will upset some people, that anything placed into the food chain causes them to reevaluate their situation, so eat them!

Some will say traps, but they are useless if you have soft soil. I don't know, wish I did.
