who do u like better?

Honestly, on paper I think they look pretty even this season.

The Sox appear to have the edge with the starting rotation b/c Pettitte, Igawa and Pavano are all iffy, but Wang and Moose should be solid. The Sox rotations has a big question mark in the form of D-Mat, but even if he flounders their rotation is about six deep so they could overcome.

Both teams bullpens are about middle of the pack, but the Yankees definitely have the advantage at closer right now. Rumor has it the Sox are still trying to shop some young arms for Chad Cordero, but the option to use Joel Pinero and his four-pitch onslaught could turn out better than expected.

As far as defense goes, I'd have to say this one goes to the Red Sox. Aside from Manny the rest of the defense is pretty solid and the Manny factor is always downgraded by putting him in a left field the size of a child's sandbox. Damon's rag arm combined with Matsui and Abreu's lack of range hurts the Yankees a bit. A-Rod is a question mark at third base. He could win a Gold Glove or he could end up with 200 E5s tagged on him by season's end. Adding Dougie baseball should shore up the D down at 1B, but Andy Phillips is still going to play half the starts down there, so who knows?!

As far as the offense goes, honestly I think it's pretty even. The Yankees losing Gary Sheffield hurts them more than they realize. His right handed bat was a must for balancing out a very lefty-heavy lineup. Honestly, I'd say the Yankees have the edge but only slightly. Bobby Abreu needs to regain his power stroke to fully take advantage of Yankee Stadium. Matsui needs to bounce back to his pre-injury form right out of the gate and Cano needs to have another season like he did in '06.

As far as the Sox lineup goes, adding Lugo to the top is a huge boon for this squad. The 3-6 combo of Ortiz, Manny, Drew and Lowell is going to mash and mash hard. I expect some scary numbers out of those guys. Through Yuk, Coco, and 'Tek into the mix and that's a tough lineup as well, but the Yankees still get the edge--largely pending on how which JD Drew shows up in Fenway the one who raked with the Braves or the one who underachieved with Cardinals. Personally, I think if they get the one who played solid, but quiet ball in LA, the Sox will be just fine.

Finally the manager...I think the Red Sox have the advantage here. Not too take ANYTHING away from Joe Torre, but with the eexception of the '96 and '97 seasons he has always had a team full of All-Stars, it's not hard to draw up a lineup or a rotation when every name is a superstar. Francona has had to deal with patchwork rotations and lineups filled with career underachievers for years, but the days of the Trot Nixon's and Alex Gonazalez's are over so essentially they are in the same boat, but I'll give the edge to Tito on this one.

Pitching - Red Sox
Bull Pen - Push
Closer - Yankees
Defense - Red Sox
Offense - Yankees
Manager - Red Sox

I guess by my vary inaccurate conclusion it's the Red Sox, but honestly we aren't going to be able to judge which team is better until next October...

If your sick of the question then don't answer it.
I'm a diehard yankee fan so obviously the choise is the Yankees. Red Sox in the playoffs does make it a lot gut wrenching to watch and in turn makes the playoffs have a little more zest, something they have been missing the past 2 years.
