I really enjoyed the movie, "The Motorcycle Diaries" about Che Guevara. Rent it, if you haven't seen it.

Back in those days, the evils of communism weren't so black and white in certain countries. Central and South America was a good breeding ground for Communism because these governments didn't play fair with their citizens. There was no way a poor Peruvian was ever going to share in his country's wealth.

I'm no expert on Che, but if he wasn't a Communist, why did he spend so much time helping Castro? No, I don't think he was necessarily a bad person. He was often fighting governments that simply allowed a small elite to flourish, while keeping the rest of the population poor.

I love this quote about Che, from The American Spectator magazine: "Che Guevarra is a cultural icon because of his capacity to provoke empathy among the spoiled youth of the affluent West."

Those people who believe that Communism is evil, have been raised on years of US propaganda. I myself was raised hearing Reagan's "Evil Empire" speech and the like. Then I woke up and learned the truth about Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin.

If Che was a bad person for some of the things done during war, then Franklin Roosevelt should be remembered as a bad person as well.

Your chum thinks like that because of the fact thats what his family has been telling him all his existence. He would not choose any arguments because of the fact he would not have any arguments for his believes. Who ever thinks that Che is in basic terms an icon in a shirt is an fool. Che grow to be creative. someone who believed that the wealthy shouldn't make the main the undesirable. That the banks (that don't produce products) shouldn't own the staff (that truly produce products). That a individual ought to artwork for a living and not matter on the government to grant hand outs to everybody in replace for his or her freedom. Did he kill human beings? confident. each government does, and in a revolution it is needed. The cuban everybody is undesirable because of the embargo, no longer because of the fact of Che.

Whether he was a communist or a Marxist is a little irrelevant to the people he executed or sent to labor camps.

The man helped to put Cuba under a totalitarian dictatorship, and in later life tried to bring other nations under similar systems. That isn't to say that other regimes in Latin America were bastions of freedom, but I can't admire a man who wanted to replace one bad, oppressive social system with another bad, oppressive social system.

And Hitler was to be admired because he made the trains run on time, gave everyone a job, built the world's first interstate highway system for Germany, and instilled a sense of pride in the German people, not to mention being one of the designers of the Volkswagen Bug.

Wow, if I typed everything wrong with this silly and(feebly) insulting question, my fingers would fall off. Che is no different than Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot.
