Aww...you almost had me until you got to "and make them do stuff."

No, not really....if you whisper something--and it should be short and simple mind you--to someone, it does have a good chance of making it into his/her mind while dreaming. Background sounds like rain, trains going by, even music playing in a neighbor's apartment have all made it into my dreams, at least in some form.

But. Say it with me.

"All hypnosis is at bottom self-hypnosis, nothing works unless the subject consents to it."

Repeat that a few times....seriously, your Sleeping Beauty might *hear* what you have to say, might even understand it, but there is no obligation for your Sleeper to even *remember* what you say, never mind obey it.

Not to mention, if you did somehow manage to do anything like that and have it work (and some folks have gone to extremes to make it work, like having someone listen to a whisper track close to 24/7, sleeping and awake), point is, you're taking advantage of someone. What you're doing isn't healthy or ethical hypnosis, to say the least.

At best....you might get someone to *remember* a phrase or a sentence. And then he/she will be really and truly annoyed with you. At which point, your tricks won't work anymore.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but there is no Jedi Mind Trick, even when someone is asleep.

I went to a psychologist who was also a hypontist. She said that hypnosis is all about suggestibility--if a person is highly suggestible you can "hypnotize" them by planting suggestions into their sub-conscious mind when they are at their height of suggestibility (when they're half-asleep, extremely relaxed, etc.). They have to be somewhat awake and conscious when you plant suggestions, but it is still up to the person to do what you say.

No, sorry. However, you can make them do stuff when they're awake. Just look into some behavioral psychology and performance modification.
