I don't know how long all of you have been watching wrestling, but this has become a yearly thing for WWE. Usually once (sometimes twice) a year the WWE goes through and eliminates a bunch of talent that either isn't drawing money or is deemed to be wasting space on the roster.

This is often done with the intent to resign some of the superstars and done to get rid of talent that the creative team has no new ideas for. In the end it's often better for a lot of the released superstars, because they are better off getting their release (and severence package) and moving onto independent bookings or TNA where they can get some face-time as opposed to sitting along the sidelines in the WWE and doing nothing.

Here's why.

WWE loves the wrestling. But in WWE, you need more than just wrestling. Other things. Appearance, promo cutting, mic skills, things other than wrestling. WWE wants that too.

So WWE cuts these people to free up money for other things, like possibly bringing back older wrestlers or paying for specialty matches or other things.

The E is losing money quickly and is trying to cut "dead weight" so they could higher their time until bankruptcy, which will be less than 10 years from now.
