I have a freind who has been dating a girl for four years, but for the past year he has been cheating on her with a freind of his. He doesn't really want to be engaged to her, but can't get himself to break it off. What is your suggest for the best way to tell her all of this??

Hmm. Are you the friend he's been cheating on his fiance with?

Tell the Truth - it would have been much much better if he had not cheated & had just told her that he wanted to see other ppl. But too late to do that - he needs to sit down & Talk with his "finacee" and tell her that he feels they have grown apart to the point it can;t be rectified...that it's not her fault that they just want different things out of life ,,,,that he wishes her the best and that he wants her to be happy, but that he isn't the one...something to that effect. There's no easy way to admit that you have fallen out of love with someone - but it's been made much worse by the cheating- she'll be very hurt & very angry he should expect that (as would he if the conversation were reversed)....& learn something from this situation - first not to propose to someone too soon - Not to cheat on someone - just end the relationship if you are attracted to other ppl ....

He is to be honest with her either in a letter or in person and then he needs to allow her to make her decision about what has happened and if she still wants the relationship or not. Honesty is the best policy... If he really does not love her then he needs to let her go anyways. It is not fair to her at all if he really does not love her to continue to put her through this pain.

There's no "nice" way, he just has to be direct, and tell her he doesn't want to be with her anymore. There's no way around it. He'll just have to tell her - "I'm sorry, but I don't want to continue with the engagement any longer". The sooner he does it the better, so she can move on with her life; it's not fair for him to be wasting her time.

Straight out tell her. It is not fair to this girl that he is lying to her. She is wasting her life on a man who isn't planning to be with her. There is no easy way....just flat out tell her. They will both be glad he did in the end.

Just tell him to be honest with her. At least that way he doesn't have to spend his time with someone he really doesn't want to be with. And he can stop cheating on her.
