Why do black people refuse to speak clear english?

What is the deal? And also why do black guys wear a baseball cap everyother way than the correct way? Do they like looking dumb on purpose? Just wondering.
And how do they get away with BET (black entertainment tv)channel? I thank thats alittle one sided dont you.

LOL look at all you getting pissed off. And yes I have some black friends that even wonder the same things I do. I could care less on skin color but some of you always have an attitude towards the white people that we owe you something. Get over yourselves already.

Because that is how they learned to speak in their homes and neighborhoods. That's how their family and friends speak. Did you ever listen to yourself ... you sound like your family and friends also.

If a black starts to speak clear concise English they are accused of acting white and get criticized by their friends.

Did you ever notice how some blacks speak and sound black when speaking with other blacks and speak and sound white when speaking with whites? That is a smart black! They are good communicators. Many black athletes take speech and voice lessons from professionals to reduce their black English so that they can appeal to a larger segment of the population (whites) and get more product endorcement (advertising) money.

Speaking black English (Ebonics) all of the time keeps blacks from doing well in school and hinders their opportunities for job advancement. Some black educators say that they shouldn't try and change their students black English (they call it Ebonics). They should treat it as if it were a recognized second language like Spanish. Unfortunately after school is finished these black students have to enter the job market where speaking skills are important. If they can only speak black English then they are limited to job opportunities in black neighborhoods, becoming a rapper, or drug dealer.

Did you ever listen to whites speaking black English all of the time? They think that they are cool but the jokes on them. Everyone, including the blacks, think that they are jerks.

The baseball hat thing is something that was taken directly from major league baseball. Baseball players put their hat on backwards or to the side as a way of showing silent protest to an umpires call. I guess that guys who do that are walking around protesting everything. They most likely don't know its meaning and do it because they think that it is stylish and cool.

Other black fashions come right out of prisons ... the do rag, pants that are worm so low that mostly underware is showing on their butts ... right from prison. Isn't that counter productive and anti-inspirational to want to copy prison fashion. It's like they are preparing to spend time in jail. Have orange jump suits come into fashion yet?

BET is making money ... power to them. If an all white channel could get ratings and not get branded as being racist, it would have happened long ago.

Most blacks can't speak proper English because their mouths, palates and tongues are different from those of white Europeans. If you add some white blood, the problem goes away. Or, if you raise a black child from birth in a white family, they'll get a better education and will be surrounded by clear, intelligent English speakers. Otherwise, they'll just sound like any other ignorant ******.

It simply isn't true that "black people refuse to speak clear English." Many blacks speak standard English. Those who don't speak a different variety of English.

Everyone talks the way they do for exactly the same reason, that's how people talked when they were learning their primary language.

Do you think all people from England speak incorrectly? Or all Scots? Why pick on that one variety as being somehow wrong?

You probably speak with the accent of your parents. Almost everyone does (and has, as long as there has been human speech).

Your way of speaking sounds "wrong" to everyone who speaks with a different accent.

Wearing baseball caps backwards is a fad; it isn't done only by blacks, nor do all blacks wear them at all, let alone backwards.

Given the Blacks make up 12% or so of the population, and that BET represents less than one percent of all channels, I'd say Blacks were under-represented, rather than having "too much."

Not everyone is identical to you.

When arriving to this country as a slave, many spoke different languages, that had specific accents and language patterns that were not easily translated into the English language. Many of these same slaves were not allowed an education. These people had to learn the English language through listening to those who were speaking. The expressions from our ancestors own language filter in and through history to the language we speak today. Depending on education level, socio-economic class and where one may live alot of those same words may be spoken in the home today. Thus is why some black people may not speak clear English. However I would like to point out that Americans do not speak proper English either. If talking to someone from Britain I am sure they would find the average americans language terrible. Now for the baseball cap, I think you would find younger people doing this, which would make me believe it's a fad. This is just my opinion. As for BET, it is a white owned network. I think you should address that question to them, why would someone white want to have a network named Black Entertainment, my guess it's all about the money.

By the way Craig says "doughnut" is a term for a "rude" part of the body, as in ,"raffle yer doughnut" so what is "doughnut hurling"? Also I "understood" what the Scotsman was saying. First off how can you say black people refuse to speak clear English, do you know every single black person in America. Secondly black guys aren't the only ones who wear hats turned backwards, I've seen many guys do this that weren't black. I think you need to stop watching tv so much and get a life. Stop worrying about black people and worry about improving yourself and your obviously bigot view of black people.

Well, by the way I type, you can clearly see that I can speak proper English. Some baseball players wear their cap backwards, along with some whites that I see. And as far as BET, a lot of black shows that are aired on other channels, that you apparently don't like are put on BET. Plus you have so many other channels to choose from, why do you bother to watch. And if I'm not mistaken, some whites appear on that channel. Any other questions?. Please don't clump us all together. We all are not ignorant.

First you have to come to a decision on what is "clear" English. English is one of the most complicated languages on the planet. Is the northern dialect correct, southern, midwestern? What slang is accurate and what should be disallowed? And how long do we give people to learn "correct" English before we start slandering them for not learning a language.

Why don't you have more tolerance for people? Why are so ignorant that you lump every black man together with your question? Do you honestly believe EVERY black man in the world owns a baseball cap, and those born in non-English speaking countries speak English?

You need to grow up and stop worrying about trivial crap.
