I think you should consider who is coming to your party. Start with silly party favorites, like the Macarena, Barbie Girl, and other songs. Later, heat it up with rap and hip hop. Try hiring ice breakers, attractive people who get paid to lead the dancing and get people dancing, if its in your budget. Sometimes they come with the DJ. Or if your cheap, get somebody's hot cousin or brother to come along.
PS. Try to get a place with good acuostics. They can't hold dances in my school's gym because everything echoes.
