What is the reformation?

i need to know what the reformation is and how it was formed

The Reformation was a period of time when Europens began to question, and ultimately defy and split from the Catholic Church and their abuses of their power. It began with MArtin Luther in (I think) 1588, when he nailed his 95 theses to a church door in Wittenburg Germany. He went on to form the Lutheran church, which was followed by the Calvinist church and other Protestant religions. This was all followed by a tragic and bloody series of wars.
