Why not they are full of anger and venom let them vent it all in a war zone. See how brave they are when confronted by the same volume of anger as they possess with a bullet pointed up their nose and a trigger at the ready. Come prisoners get BRAVE and face your demon's the real ones not the imaginary one you take your anger out on in civvie street

This is a commons sense answer. You wouldn't hand a gun to a bad person a let him fight for your country without him proving himself worthy of that honor. When you go to prison, you lose your rights including the right to join the military. Also, other countries could hold our prisoners hostage and in most state prison codes, prisoners must all be gassed in times of national crisis.

We should not make them, because prisoners are still due their constitutional rights. It has been well established that the rights given by the constituion really are inalienable, and apply even to prisoners. As soon as we can force non-prisoners to fight, then maybe we can force prisoners to fight too. They should not be used as a substitution, as cannon fodder. This is pretty basic human rights stuff.
Of course, I don't want my friends in the military bunking with serial killers, to be honest.

first of all if you were in jail and then forced to fight ina war would you have any motive to acutualy fight. another reason they might be so mad that they and benn but in prison they might just kill a general or commanding officer and who's to say the don't just desert our forces and give the enemy information about our forces.

just because someone breaks the law doesnt mean they should risk their lives for something they dont beleive, besides, if i was a prisoner that was told i had to go into battle because i was a prisoner, i would just wait till i got a gun and shoot my commander and run away to another country, yay freedom.

They are all converting to radical Islam so I wouldn't hand them a gun. You already know they're violent or they wouldn't be in prison.

They hold no loyalty to anyone. How could you control their actions?
I understand your point ...but it is impractical.
