Does anyone know how an irregular pentagon can tile a plane?

Home plate (from baseball) is an irregular pentagon. Run one row of them side by side with the points pointing up, run the next row above them with the points pointing down into the gaps, making a horizontal strip. Stack the strips to tile the plane.
