I have heard some scary things about hyundai, and the hyundai warranty. For example, to keep your warranty in effect you have to take the vehicle to hyundai for maintnance, that they are bad about living up to the warranty committments, and some other bad things. If anyone knoiws about any of this, please elaborate, no biases please.

federal regulations prevent car manufactures from creating a monopoly on the service of your car. by all means, you can take any car to any shop for maintenance as long as you keep dated receipts with odometer readings listed along with all service done. although you must comply with the recommended services such as 5,000 , 15,000 , 36,000 mile services like trans fluid flush, routine oil changes, coolant flush, etc... and it has to be "by the book" per manufacturer. if you follow this and they bicker about any repairs , contact an attorney and sue thier asses!!!!

Don't be scared. Hyundai is a very good company. They are very reliable cars too.About the warranty,Hyundai offered this warranty because they started off with crappy cars.I researched this article long ago. They had a bad rep and to get customers back, they had to offer this kind of warranty. They are actually one of the best cars on the road today. You don't have to take it to their dealership for maintenance, they are just carefull of what other untrusty shops would do which could void the warranty.Same with other brands too. It's better to have it done there since they warranty their service as well.No bias here,I drive a GTO but I have had lots of experiences with Hyundai's since I used to work for a rent a car.
Also, even Honda's and Toyota's have their faults too.Remember, the warranty is just insurance for your car. There are no brand new cars that come out perfect. There's always a fault, even if it's just a minor thing.
