Britain vrs USA Rock Bands?

Britain definitely , you have Beatles , Stones , Sabbath , LED ZEPPELIN,The Who,Pink Floyd,The Kinks, Peter Frampton.

USA- The Doors ,Skynard , Allman Bros, Elvis,Greateful Dead

It just seems that the caliber of sales and popularity that the British bands had were far more high profile.

typically, britain has had more of the actual bands i believe. by that i means the bands who are bands for the music not the money. ya some of them like iron maiden, the stones, the beatles, got popular, but it doesn't mean they aren't about the music still. all of the bands from the us, or at least a lot of them, are in it for the money.i dont like that. thats not what music is about. but when you look at if from a genre standpoint and look at each genre of music, it varies. like metal.... thrash metal is typically an american thing, while black metal is a european thing. it varies. its hard to tell. if you are talking about europe vs. usa, then i gotta say europe. most of the bands i listen to are from like sweden, norway, finland, usa, and more. but rarely from britain. its just the style of music i listen to. so it really depends. they both have produced some amazing bands, thats for sure.

Well it's a difficult question... Just i believe that due to the european culture and tradition english bands were more "in favour of music" . I believe that you can find more interesting sounds, riffs. I believe that generally the european bands have a more atmospheric sound based on many things revolved to their countries. In european rock there are bands like deep purple who are 200% musicians than the americans. Even though rock is based on pentatonics i think that americans have a more bluesy sound, and are happier in general. I prefer european rock and european music generally....

I thought all rock n roll came from traditionally African American Southern blues singers and gospel. Thats where Keith Richards says his influence came from.
