Check out the original Punk/Ska sound from the late 1970's, The Clash. Total class.

Mest and Rancid.Mest not so much but a couple of songs on their new album have a bit of a reggae/ska feel to them i.e. Slow Motion or Missing my baby tonight

Think 2tone records label from England.
Oh yeah Bad Brains but they were heavier like metal or heardcore at times.
