He's one of a long string of Venezuelan warlords and obviously a racist. Why pander to him? My reply? "Chavez? Who's he?".

Gringo is not a racist term, it is only in some USA dictionaries that the word is said to be derogatory. I have been refered to as a gringo and it was never meant as a rude term, in fact a lot of Latin Americans will refer to their white Friends as gringos.
I am not a lefty but must say that Chavez is the only leader that has brought stability to the country, Yes he went left but that was the only way that the country could get schools and hospitals built. And hopefully if he can stay in power end the corruption that has gone on for so long..... Now if this is such a bad thing then why is he kicking *** in fair elections ???
And I thought he was telling the American government to go to hell under bush leadership, who you must admit is a bit extreme....., go to Europe and you may hear that he has made the USA the most hated country in the world.
I am just assuming that you are from The USA, due to how you asked the question.... Listen to bush speak about some Arab and Asian leaders and countries.
The CNN is a very one sided and always seem to be a pro USA no matter what, so I would do some extra research before finalizing any decision.

His people elected him, not really our business. Lord knows the US has meddled in South American affairs for decades on end.
Yes, we should be concerned. It sounds like that country is heading straight for a dictatorship. Our international standing is so low at the moment, there is not a thing we can do about it.
And a certain US president said the same thing about Iraq, the ABM treaty, and Kyoto. Words to the effect of "Go to hell. It is in our interests to do this".
Hurts, doesn't it? Oh well.

Before George W. Bush demonstrated "Yes, there are things worse than Jimmy Carter in the White House" I'd have felt comfortable calling Chavez a commie rat (expletive) (expletive) etc., etc. Now? Eh, if he comes to Salt Lake City, look me up, the first round's on me.

How old is this man, it sounds like something I have heard before.
from someone who is just getting tired of annoyances in life and wants a little peace.I do not take offense to his name calling.

he has every right to say that. there has been enough
interference in his country from America. and i like how you used
his racial statement to mean that he hates all Americans, instead
of the officials, he was actually addressing.
