Emily Browning- "Violet" in A series of unfortunate events... i like her acting and she looks like Anne with her brown hair and the almost same age as Frank.
Dakota Fanning would be great for the role cause she's one of the most talented and succesful young actresses right now but i think she is still too little to play Anne Frank cause she was 15 years old...

It would be best to cast an unknown actress who's 18 (if the actress is underage, there are restrictions on how long they can work, etc) for such an iconic role.
If I were choosing someone famous, though, I would choose Emmy Rossum (Phantom of the Opera.) She's 21, but she can look very young and innocent, and she can act.

I would prefer a more obscure actress to play the part of Anne Frank, because sometimes the 'A-list' stars sometimes overshadow the character or production itself or are somewhat typecast into certain roles or types of characters.
