Suspenders are there to hold up stockings.
This was before the time of 'hold - up' stockings.
They were considered very sexy. They came in various shades.
American Tan was very popular in the 60's and they were seamless. Originally they were seamed. They do make your legs slimmer with a seam. I understand that ladies in the war time pencilled a line up their legs as nylons were almost unheard of during the war years (1939 - 45).
If the suspender 'button' was lost an old sixpence could be used.
In nursing we wore black stockings - very appreciated by the male patients.

Well before lycra was invented stockings were made on nylon and there was no way of them staying up without the help of the suspenders! They are a pain to wear for everyday living but a lot of men love that full lingerie look with suspenders stockings bra and knickers!! suspenders hold up your stockings: you could wear hold ups and not need suspenders
- i think tights look sexier!
suspenders also are there to look sexy

I've found guys love them, on the whole, very few actually dislike stockings and suspenders. Anyway tights are just sweaty, ugly and uncomfortable.

I believe men (mainly) are the only people to get pleasure from suspenders....... Big turn on!!
Oh and they hold up stockings not tights!!

I think that suspenders are ugly and so are stockings. They look......yucky in some way, and yucky is the best word I could come up with. Tights on the other hand...
