Not necessarily...if he was performing well years ago like he is now, then he should have. But everything I hear suggests that this batting style of his has only come about from Twenty20, which is only a few years old. Before this he was more of a defensive batsman who might have had more of a chance to make the Test team. You also had a strong opening partnership at the time in Trescothick and Strauss.

although trescothick and strauss used to be a formidable opening partnership, until trescothick lost himself and strauss couldnt make any runs

Loye will now probably do a Mike Hussey for England but theyll still fail miserably in the world cup and this series
