because they are people too, no matter their race or background or do you need to be respected by them first.

Speaking for myself I respect all until I have been disrespected by them. Then I will start to lose my respect.
But I will always allow my respect of them to return once they have earned it back. What are your feelings on this topic??

This is an interesting topic. In fact we live in a certain society....and we learned from family, school...etc. that we should respect people no matter what background they have.
But when you grow up you throw away your pink glasses. And you realize that in this world people can be good and mean. Unfortunately.

And then you come to that point when you do something way to important then respecting others....that is to respect yourself. So my point is this: when someone respects you then you respect them...but when someone is trying so hard to make clear that doesn't care about you or even worse ignores you...then you stop respecting him/her...and the feedback is that you start respecting yourself.

But in my humble life...still I do respect also some people who doesn't deserve that.

Good question!~

On RESPECT:

I've coined this phrase......

"Respect is neither bought, nor born...it's built."

I still believe this today, even though very little deserves respect.

In many ways it's like love. You can't buy it. It happens.

When two people work toward a respectful relationship, one based on trust and understanding, then you feel comfortable enough to call someone a friend.

It has to be mutual. Too often, people expect too much from others, and when disappointed, they throw in the towel and lose respect.

Therefore, it must be a two way street, and it has to be built over time.

Respect and trust go hand in hand.

Be selective, and don't expect too much.

People will do what they can do, and not much more.
