I know that the hormones are all unbalanced and you can't have sex for at least 1 week and be "protected" but what does it do to the rest of you? I forgot to take mine 2 nights in a row though but am not going to be having sex for at least a month so I'm not worried about that.. just wondering. Thanks!

I don't know what's up wth all those people focusing on everything else BUT your question.

It is quite simple really, taking the pill prevents you from ovulating. vulation is the only time of your cycle when you can get pregnant, it usually happens about the 14th day after the first day of your menstrual bleeding but varies with different women. While on the pill, your eggs don't ovulate so you can't get pregnant.

The pill contains hormones - that's how it works. When you miss/cancel the pill slowly your body returns to it natural status, with your personal timing for your cycle and ovulation. Left without those extra shots of hormones it goes back to normal and ovulation occurs regularly.

Nothing serious happens. Just resume taking it regularly, including the 2 pills that you missed. since you're not going to have sex then you shouldnt worry about being pregnant as some of these fools have mentioned. I'm not sure if you know what birth control pills do, but it makes hormones in your body that makes it think you've already ovulated an egg so an egg doesnt actually drop down. you still have your period because no matter what each month your body prepares to have a baby despite whether you drop an egg or not. just resume taking it as im sure you have.

Best case scenario, your hormones are just a little off for a couple of days. It probably won't even result in a late period. Worst case scenario you would end up with a little parasite that will feed off of you for 75% of a year, keep you from sleeping for six months thereafter and cause you to have to make those tough choices between retirement and sending it to college.

Good luck!

If you forget to take your pill your supposed to double up the next time...its supposed to be taken the same time everyday or else it is not effective. If you double up and then have sex, you will most likely get pregnant because of the fact you didnt allow the hormones to kick in. Missing your pill throws your system out of wack so the chances of getting pregnant are very high. If anything, I recommend getting the Depo shot because you dont have to remember to get it because the doctor's office will call you when the time is coming!

Once you forget it twice you have to wait until you start your period and then you can begin the pill the Sunday after you start. I just did that after forgetting mine.

Many women occasionally forget to take the Pill daily, impairing its effectiveness. Correct use of the pill usually implies taking it every day at the same hour for 21 days, followed by a pause of seven days.

The combined Pill primarily prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. In women who take the pills correctly, ovulation is prevented in 98-99% of cycles. Forgetting to take one or more pills increases ovulation rates; one study found skipping two pills in a row resulted in ovulation in 29% of cycles.[43] (In women not taking the Pill, pregnancy occurs in approximately 25% of ovulatory cycles.)
In the event of breakthrough ovulation, secondary contraceptive mechanisms are believed to come into play. Proposed secondary mechanisms active before fertilization include thickening of cervical mucus, which can prevent or slow sperm entry into the uterus, and changes in tube transport inhibiting sperm migration to the fallopian tubes.

the pill works by convincing your body its pregnant so the only affect on your body is the lack of those hormones which can cause pregnancy. therefore, if you're sexually active you have to use protection for a week to make sure. it can mess up you periods depending on which pill you take. thats about it really

some thing built up in the body, kills any male sperm that comes along. If you back away from taking the pill, the level of that chemical drops and opens up chances that some thing may get past those safe guards
