They were not the Greatest Punk Band of all-time. They trail the Sex Pistols and the Ramones in that category.

Certainly up there with the best, I saw them in the late 70s on the 'white riot tour'. Probably at their best seen live, Strummer was an awesome front man.
The Stranglers and the Damned are up there too.
