maybe it's just me but...i pretty much can't stand any of the music that's on the radio today. it's like a 5 year old wrote it. i mean, even 300 years ago, music was really good with all the great classical composers. and then there were people even 20 years ago that wrote really good songs.
it's not just that...like all the performers of today are boooring! seriously, i would rather stare at the wall than watch some half-naked lip-syncher warble another boring pop song.

i'm not some old nostalgic person either, i'm 19...so do you think that we will see all the truly talented artists come out again or is this the dark ages of music? or is it dead already?

I totally agree with you. Pop stars are a dime a dozen, so there isn't much special about most of them as far as musical talent. The problem is that today's young people are influenced that rock (or hip hop, or rap, or whatever) is the "only" music out there, and everything else is just boring stuff that your great grandmother listens to. We need to reach out to our youth, and show them that good, exciting music doesn't have to be screamed by some punk artist.
Don't lose hope - as long as there are people out there like you and me, good music is not dead. There will always be gifted composers and performers who know what true music is. They just might be a little less common than 300 years ago. =)

Even though I enjoy A LOT of the music on the radio today, I know EXACTLY what your talking about.

Music know-a-days is made very fast by artists about some really stupid things. Some pointless themes and nonesense.

I really like older songs because of the melodies and meaning.

For some reason, I feel like it's over. Music has been changed to the maximum and theres no return.

Music is and always has been great, you just need to find other sources for discovering new bands. Try some searches on Myspace.com or the listening stations at record stores. Also, compilation CDs often group bands of similar genre, and make it easier to find bands w/ similarities to ones you may already know or like. You could also take on a job at a record store!

It depends. I love older music but I also like alot of the new music. I can live with any kind of music. Fans are the ones that alow the boring music to keep happening since the fans are the ones buying there music. I feel like SOME parts of music are dead but not all.

song has constantly been good, human beings in basic terms constantly leaned in the direction of the mainstream crappy sh***tty ones and those are those (considering they are listened to so generally) are performed repeatedly lower back which you hear everywhere. now and lower back observing a various artist which you haven't any longer heard until eventually now each specially situations is sweet like Damien Marley (I luv my reggea). Oh and hear candy no longer something by way of Calvin Harris, gifted DJ i ought to declare.

i believe that music is dead. if you look at it my way, then you'll see that no one takes risks anymore. they all follow the same format to sell. the reason you don't hear the term 'sell out' anymore is because everyone's doing it. remember Led Zeppelin? well you don't, and neither do i, but we know that they took risks. just look at Stairway to Heaven. they put two genres in one song! no band today would go from classical to hard rock in the same song. and where are the effects these days? almost all the guitar you hear is clean and boring. i wanna hear some wah-wah or distortion in there! it's just not the same..

i totally agree....
i'm 12, and i study violin at Juilliard Pre-College, so i'm more of a classical person, but i'm forced to listen to Z100 EVERY SINGLE MORNING on the school bus... so many of the songs are just AWFUL! i mean, sure, it's a matter of opinion and some of the songs aren't all that bad, but still...

actually, there are still a few great violinists left out there, though you know... listen to Gil Shaham, Christian Tetzlaff, Hilary Hahn, etc., and you'll know what i'm talking about.

When bands like Fall out boy and Panic at the disco disappear off the face of the earth and people appreciate musicians like Miles Davis

sorry but its a societal problem.just like affirmative action.if you have divergent cultures and one is dominant or superior, and suddenly you have to pretend that everyone is equal, you cant just magically raise the inferior up to the level of the superior.you have to lower the superior and raise the inferior to a bland middle ground. not as good as the best, not as bad as the worst.sad but true.
