Even though bad things happened to people they still follow their punishers ways, why?

Well the problem with your question is how you view culture. Your culture is based more today on what you do and what your family is about. You cant go up to somebody today and tell them what they are supposed to be about and believe in when you have no connect or similarity to that person except for maybe racial features. A black or asian person raised in some white suburbs wont have any connection to the lifestyle and values of a black or asian person raised in the hood.

If they have the choice, nothing is being "forced" on them. Mine are known for taking what they liked from English and Irish culture and making it truly Cherokee. If we didn't like something, simple---we didn't follow it.

My ancestors neglected their culture and took on the one that was forced on them because... it was forced on them!
They could either do what the invaders said, or get their right hands cut off, and be shipped off to somewhere different to be slaves.
