Pain doesn't always mean you are having a miscarriage, alto of things are changing in your stomach even early on which can result in cramps and twinges. You really need to see your Doctor, if you have lost your baby sometimes you can have a "missed miscarriage" which is when you don't bleed or pass the baby. This needs medical attention to prevent infection and further complications. So please get checked out. Hope all is well

First off I wouldn't worry just yet because some woman have normal pains at the beginning of the first trimester like bad cramps. However, if it is excessive and extrememly painful for a while then I would get checked. I had a misscarriage and had painful cramping for about two days before I started bleeding and I bled only for two days. Everyone is different in this respect as well. However, when we got pregnant again I had mild pains and discomfort and because of what happened last time I freaked and went right to the Doc and 5 weeks. We got an emergency ultrasound and saw the heartbeat and the doctor assured us that when you see a heartbeat the percentage or misscarriage goes down from 75% in our case to 7-15% so we felt better. I don't know the normal percentage since ours was based on a multiple miscarriage.

You need to get off the computer and consult a physician on call now. If the pains you are having right now are severe it could be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy which can result in a rupture that can be life threatening. Have you been to a doctor?

Good luck and take care

The baby's heart usually stops beating days or even a couple weeks before the bleeding occurs. For some women they never bleed on their own and require a D&C.
