What are reasons I should buy and iMac from Apple in contrast to a pc?

Please give good reasons, that I can use to make a decision for the best purchase.

One one level the question is similar to why a person should by a Ford vs. a Chevy. Look and feel, style, smaller features and other reasons.

The Mac comes with bundled software that for many people is a bargain compared to what it might cost for a similar PC with software.

If you are buying an Apple Mac then you are buying a major name brand. If you check similar PCs such as a Dell you will find that the Mac is the same price (maybe slightly less) if you compare similar spec machines. Go on line and price the two.

The Mac OS is way more than just a Linux box even if Apple uses the FreeBSD. You can just ignore history of the OS development. You will never notice.

Bottom line is to look at what you do and how you would use the machine. A portable or a desktop. Music and video vs. spreadsheets and other tools.

With a Mac you can pay to get a copy of Windows and then run the machine as a normal PC with Windows or run the machine as a traditional Apple Mac with OS X. You are completely hedged in that sense so the Apple choice cost no more but does not lock you in like a PC (which does not run OS X from Apple).

There no reasons to buy one anymore. The only difference between the Mac (PC Clone) and a real PC is the OS. Problem is the Mac OS will not allow you to play many things as most programs/games are for real PCs not the mac.
Now if you're surfing the internet, letters, and other very simple things, the Mac can be easier to use, but then it's typically more expensive than a PC with the same parts.
And note: Mac OS X is based on FreeBSD (linux). You can get a PC with linux and have more benefits than a Mac pc with OS x.
