Puppyloompa is exactly right- their target market is really tweens- the 11 to 15 year old crowd, who want to look older.
Now- having to be size 0 to work at A&F, that sounds like something the labor dept should look into!!

No offense or anything, but I think that clothing sizes are actually getting bigger. I mean I'm not a super skinny person.... just short which makes me smaller and I have a really hard time shopping at both ae and old navy because the sizes run so big in those stores. I don't really shop at A&F because it is soooo expensive but anytime that I have been in there this is the only place where the clothes doesn't hang off of me.
And btw I feel exactly like you do when you walk into the store. Personally I think that when you can't hear the person standing next to you talking, the music is too loud. Although it is quite enjoyable to just randomly start dancing while your in A&F and Hollister. I also can see what you are talking about when you feel as though everyone is starring at you when you go into those stores if you aren't the exact zombie replica of them. But neverless don't let it get ya down when people stare because it is way funner to be different and plus they were the ones that put the music on to dance to!! They are just jealous that they don't have the confidence to be different!

No, they do not run small. A lot of stores like American Eagle and Limited Too are totally into "vanity sizing", which if you don't know what it is, is when companies use bigger sizes and say that they are smaller. For example, a person that is normally a medium, at Limited Too would be like a 3 or something (just estimating, don't really know the exact parts). Abercrombie stays with the sizes that were common a long time ago. But yes, their henleys are supposed to fit tight. Like really tight. Their hoodies should fit fine.
BTW, that rumor is not true, my brother used to work there and he was not a beach-god size.
But I like the music and I think the darkness is to set the mood. My dad says it's so no one sees how crappy their clothes really are.

I feel the exact same way! I'm honestly in your situation right now. I don't tend to shop at those stores, only because the people who work there and those that shop there always look down at me for being a little overweight! I had to shop there once for my younger sister's Christmas present, and she wanted a pair of leg warmers. I had went to who I thought was store associate, but wasn't sure, and asked her kindly, "Excuse me, do you work here?" And she stared down at me as if I was a bug, and exclaimed, "Uh, yeah, I do. Why?" In this really snobby, 'Valley-girl' like tone. So, I asked her to point me in the direction of the leg warmers, still kindly. She said, "They're right over there, gosh." Again, snobby as can be. Then, some supermodel-esque woman approaches her and asks about some thing else, and she's pleasant to her! I definitely do not like Hollister! I'm just so turned off by that place. That, and what the HELL is up with the dark lighting? I swear that -has- to be a safety hazard. I'm not saying that the clothes there aren't nice, because they are, but they are also made with terrible, cheap material (from my little sister's experiences). I wouldn't bother paying $50.00 (Canadian) for a t-shirt that will rip on you or something with just one tug. Haha. My advice is to stick to American Eagle and Old Navy.
American Eagle has larger sizes on their website if you didn't know.

why so limited? Creation has infinite dimensions. All planets and suns are inhabited. Suns are planets whose population went through the Resurrection and Ascended. eg. the Arcturians. Most aliens live on the inside of their star or planet. ETs can pretty much monitor anything they want. They have machines to record our everyday thought-patterns. They have massive space-arks where they send millions of their citizens to other planets on exchange-programs. They are ruled by Federations and Star-Councils. Some races have healing-chambers that can reanimate the dead, but they are not going to be sharing that technology anytime soon. The Grays are actually benevolent, not at all like the movies portray them. The Venusians and Pleiadians are two races working most closesly with Earth at this time. Venus is Earth's Twin, and voluntered to help Earth as she makes her ascension into the next dimension.

I'm sure you can fit into a large there. If they don't have any larges there you should complain. I don't mean if you find a shirt you like and they don't have it in your size complain, I mean if there are hardly any larges in any shirts. It bugs me to that stores are like that (I'm not big, I'm actually quite small but I still don't like the fact that people are getting looks and being made fun of because of their size). Just for fun you should ask for an application and if they laugh or quickly say no ask why and if they say it's because of your weight or anything then that's discrimination and they can get in a bit of trouble for that =D

i can understand what u r saying about making ppl feel bad, but i do think u r exxagerating. i used to hate those stores, but now i shop there often, partly because the jeans are the only ones that fit and look good, but also because, i am RLY good at finding the clearance section. Maybe the store isn't for u, because, not to b mean or anything, but they do carry more small sizes, so its gonna b harder for u to find clothes that fit, especially on clearance. They rly arent that much more expensive then other stores, and MANY of the clothes i hav got from those stores are worth the extra cost, and look GREAT. the quality at aeropostale is WONDERFUL, and the cropping in the clothes at abercrombie and hollister, look great on many body figures. you just have to find the store that is right for u

hollister has better prices than abercrombie, but there clothes aren't really all that small. im about average-sized and i wear a small to medium in their tops, and i wear a 5 in their jeans and pants. i think abercrombies sizes are a little bit bigger than hollisters but really im not sure. there not all that bad really, why dont you go try on some clothes there if you dont know what your size is?? they have a size chart too on their website if your too lazy to go to the store. and i really doubt you have to be a certain size to work there because almost all the workers are bigger than me. are you imagining these looks from the workers?? because unless your an absolute cow, and you weigh like 350, you should be able to find something there. if those workers really are giving you looks, tell the manager or something! being nice to you is half their job!

I am a size 8-10, young, open-minded 29 year old. I HATE those stores!
I am very uncomfortable in them and I can't believe that parents are letting their teenage daughters shop there. There is way too much skin showing. Clothes are getting tighter and skinnier. Jeans are way too low and skirts and shorts are way too high!
I am always shocked at what "fashion" is these days. I feel your pain. A size Large should not be for size 10. It should be size 14-16.
So if you don't fit into anything those stores carry, it is not you! It is the stupid fashion/retail industry!!! They SUCK!!
I think we should all rebel!

Stick with Old Navy and American Eagle The Gap even has nice looking/fitting shirts. I am a size L top as well and I NEVER found a shirt in A&F to fit me (I only looked twice). They market to super skinny chicks and boys who want to impress those skinny chicks..
