Some women choose to drink herbal teas instead of regular tea or coffee to avoid having caffeine while they are pregnant. It is important to know that not all herbal teas are caffeine-free or safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

According to Health Canada, the following six herbal teas are generally considered safe in moderation (2-3 cups/day) and made as a weak blend – 1 teaspoon of tea leaves per 8 oz. cup).

- Citrus Peel
- Ginger
- Lemon Balm
- Linden Flower (not for those with heart problems)
- Orange Peel
- Rose Hip

Herbal teas that are caffiene free are fine! I drank a lot of decaf tea when I was pregnant. Chamomile especially because it is soothing, easy on the tummy, and helps with sleeping at night. You should be able to get tea made for pregnancy at a local health food store! I used the Mother's Milk tea after my boys were born, never tried the pregnancy tea because I didn't see it until recently! There are also fruity teas that are decaf - they should be at your local grocery store or walmart/target supercenters! The chamomile tea should be there too!

Of course tea is safe, unfortunately for you, your hormones didn't like tea at the beginning, the same for me with coffee , i loved the smell but didn't like to drink as it made me feel ill, as far as i know there is no medical reason why you shouldn't drink tea but with anything do it in moderation, if your hormones say you need to drink then do.Also in my pregnancy i craved salt and vinegar chip sticks and i hated salt and vinegar also cheese couldn't get enough of that. The body is so strange lol

hope all goes well with the birth
xx

I drank tea with all of my babys and coke too. My babys were all extremely healthy. So I think its fine to drink. You can find some sites on how much caffeine daily is ok during pregnancy if you are worried.

I was the exact same way...I love tea but couldn't even think of drinking it when pregnant. Not until my baby was born...the minute after all I wanted was tea.
Remember it does have caffeine so limit it to 3 cups or switch to decaffeinated.

You could drink tea as long as it is decaf - I have asked my doctor and she has given me the approval - therefore, I am not just advising to advise. I started drinking red raspberry leaf tea - if you could it up on-line - it is claimed that this tea is suppose to help you during your labor by strengthening your uterus muscles, ect. Some people claim that this is to help you induce labor, but if you research it you will make your own conclusion that this information is inaccurrate. Therefore, do not worry, your baby will be fine - - - Good Luck and try that red raspberry leaf tea -

iced tea contains more caffeine than coffee, so if you are trying to avoid caffeine you probably should not drink too much of it. however, it won't hurt you or the baby to drink caffeine. if you're just drinking hot tea, i would use moderation also. i asked my ob/gyn early on in my pregnancy because i can't get enough chamomile, orange, or peppermint tea. she said it was fine, just not to overdue it.

Yes its fine, I drank it while pregnant, my daughter loves tea she's 17mths old, It can absorb iron in your body so don't drink straight after iron tablets or high iron meals.

Best of luck
