I've thought about it enough to know that I could never do it. I'm not depressed but cannot stop thinking about it. I know everyone has thought about it to some extent but how often is normal?

I'm actually a very happy person. It just occupies my mind quite a bit.

its best not to think about it at all. it tears you down a lot even if your not considering doing it. listen to uplifting songs that say how good life. make a list of some of the things that are important to you. always tell your family how glad you are to have them and think about what would happen to them if you just attempted suicide.

the truth is that if your always thinking about it you are considering it and you will never admit it to yourself. it is an idea you have in the back of your head that if you keep thinking about one day it might really come true! i only think about suicide when im listening to a song or reading a magazine or something like that that talkes about it. in that case i put it down or turn it off.

NEVER THINK ABOUT SUICIDE!!! it destroys you!

I'm not sure if there is an actual rate of normal. The thing is to occupy the mind with more interesting things. If you thought about it enough to know that you wouldn't do it, then the next step would be to find some challenging goals or adventures to look forward to, and go enjoy doing them. Focusing too much attention on siucide seems to me to be not a good use of that wonderful mind of yours. Use your talent for intense thinking for a more enjoyable study of something rewarding or fulfilling to you.

I would say if it's more than a phase. That is to say if it's more than a few months after something tragic had happened.

If that is the case, I would say you're more than justified to feel the way you do, and I'm sorry you're going through what you are.

I hope you feel better soon!

A few years is would be too long as it'd probably have some consequential effects on the way you'd want to live your life. Every person is different, and every tragedy has different effects on us. How long is too long varies between person to person.

A simple/psychiatric guideline to determine whether it's too often is whether it has a serious negative effect on your life. (Think of your best case scenario)

If you ever want to talk to someone, I'd be happy to listen without being judgmental.

Hope this helps,
Ken

With a single "thought" of ending your life, you need to consult a professional (not the internet). You don't have to be depressed to think about it but there's a void somewhere that may be beyond your own self-analysis.

If you "cannot stop thinking about it" that is too often. You should see a counselor ASAP and get to the bottom of it with a professional.

don`t think about it too often. especially since you said that youre a happy person, don`t let it get into your mind. it is worth thinking about if you truly ARE happy.

You can think about it 24/7, just as long as you dont do it. Everything can better, and any situation can change around.
