i say we need to pass a law that says " once founded guilty of being a gang member, you will be excuted even if you did no harm" that should slow them down.

It is a given that gangs are a PROBLEM but your suggestion might be a little extreem.
There are KIDS as young as 12 in gangs because it is the only "FAMILY" that they have. They just join a gang because that is what their brother did, just as some kids go to work at the mill as their brother did.
I am NOT anti-drug, I just choose not to participate and that is a MAJOR source of income and POWER to gangs. Remove their "money-maker" and what might happen?
I think that you will also agree that drug use is NOT limited to gang members and many middle class people choose to ignore the gang problem so that THEIR connection does not go away.
I suppose that we could legalize ALL drugs so that anyone 21 or older could buy them in the liquor dept. at the grocery store. They would be TAXED and the price would go through the roof. People that have a HABIT get a little brittle and lack judgement so the local market would be held up on a regular basis. The security costs would be spread over milk and bread.
On the other side of the coin we could make the penalties for drug use HUGE; 5 years for a nickle bag of anything MANDATORY! Then our jails would explode at the seams.
Most of the entry level jobs except service have been out-sourced off-shore so what is a guy going to do with maybe a high school education? The ONLY place he gets any self-esteem is through the gang.
Most are just looking for a little respect and they are going about it the WRONG WAY.
I used to have appointments in "GANG LAND" in a suit and a nice car. The guys always hung around checking the ride. One day I showed early and got a soccer ball out of the back and started messing with it in the street. The next thing I knew 20 guys had come out of nowhere. One of them said, "Hey white boy, you play"? I replied "Poquito, El Portelo" (goalkeeper) and they all laughed. I put the ball down, hit it and it nailed him square in the chest as he went down. There were a lot of "chinga" etc while he got up. I just opened my hands for him to take a shot. He hit a rocket and I was lucky that it didn't go through my hands and break my nose. This went back and forth for a few minutes, I ruined a suit and called it quits. I tossed them the ball and headed inside. Then he yelled, "No worries about the ride "SUIT", but my ***** would have loved it". I just waved and laughed.
A few months later, I was with an associate from the East Coastand was in quit a rant about the "low-lifes" that we drove past on the street.
I just said, "Do not look down your nose at them until you have worn their shoes or we could get a brick through the window. If you want to came back and judge these people, do it on your own time and alone".
This was a long answer to a short question, but I wanted to be complete. The answer to gang problems is not simple and has more to do with cultural issues than prison or execution.

We do need to curb gang violence. It's hard though, because an 8 year old growing up near a gang often finds little means of avoiding the gang. He/she is often forced to join for protection, so I do have some sympathy as people are sometimes almost completely forced into a difficult situation.

properly, all our police officials are doing right here in Canada is inconveniencing them. right here in Halifax, there has been 2 drug dealing households battling one yet another for years, and the police aren't any further really proactive with that. i imagine the challenge is scale. at the same time as Toronto police dealt with one or 2 gangs, l. a. police ought to cope with dozens. And maximum American cities have similar issues. and finally, i do not see what's ridiculous about our structure of Rights and Freedoms, there is little or no that's any diverse out of your own rights.

Well it will vary by case... depending on what your gang does and if you don't do anything execution is a little harsh, but yeah gangs are overrated, not to mention pathetic.

The hard truth is that gangs are killing each other so what police have to worry about if their fighting each other anyway?

And so many of them are illegals from Mexico its pathetic. But, drug dealing puts a lot of money into circulation, so they don't dare crack down on them. But - I do like your idea.

i spoke with my father about when he was a kid,
and the police would literally beat you with their clubs if you were in a gang.
i think the police need to be able to do that again.
