Do you think voting by phone is only a money making thing ,and that the best talent could be lost , if people are voting for who they know ,rather than the best talent , surely the whole thing is a farce,and a waste of time .

I think it's all a complete rip off. You are never told how many votes an individual has and this could so easily be because the result has already been decided by the powers that be. Not that I'm suggesting it's all a fix but the thought has crossed my mind!!
And when money is supposedly meant to go to charity it is always such a tiny amount per call or text that you know someone, somewhere is laughing their socks off, cracking open champagne and making millions off the generosity of the general viewing public. (I'm not always this cynical!!)

when you vote with your phone by texting, the company then knows your number and sends you junk mail. you never want to give your number to a stranger right, but little do ppl know that they actually are giving away they're number to a co. and they start fining you with, for example, a downloaded screensaver that you never downloaded.
Thats cause they did that on purpose. Trust me, it happened to my phone and i had to cancel my plan and everything. They fined me for 6 ring tones, and 9 backgrounds that i never purchased and i had to start with a new phone company.
Yes, it is a HUGE waste of your time, and money.

I wouldn't want to give these companies my telephone number or email address, which is the primary reason for having them set up that way.
