My coach says my shot is great, but that I shoot to hard. The ball always bounces off to hard. How do I fix this problem?

Don't change anything, thats your shot! Your coach may look at it and give you tips but if you change your shot then it isn't your.. Get it. Sam Perkins (NBA retired) was a center and he never changed his shot and he shot from everywhere on the court i mean 3's, permermiter, elbow. If it ain't broken don't fix it.

There is one primary reason why shooters miss long. The angle at the elbow, which should be at 90 degrees or in the shape of an L, pinches into a smaller angle or a V. This causes the ball to be flung on more of a straight line and with more strength than needed. So, to fix this, make sure you keep your L. You do that by keeping the ball away from your face as you lift it.

You need to put more arc on your shoots and less drive.
Shoot the ball with mor loft and this should decrease the line drive shots.

Do you jump when you shoot? This helped me. Plus, not only arc the ball, but also point where you are aiming. Pointing is what gave me perfect aim no matter how I shot the ball. Good luck and please, try these out.

make sure you have the ball on your fingertips when you shoot, shoot higher by maybe jumping higher and flicking your wrist more, also shoot the ball higher, and make sure you follow your shot to get some o-boards

Try a little more arc. It is a difficult question to answer without seeing your shot.
Good Luck

try not to use your knees when you shoot and put some back spin for some touch on your shot.
