I know where the Trinity River is located, but I cannot locate a Trinity Valley on any map I have ever seen, nor have I ever run across the mention of a Trinity Valley in any study of Texas geography that I have seen. There is a small community college in East Texas named Trinity Valley Community College. I am thinking they took the name from an imaginary valley that does not exist.

There is no "official" Trinity Valley, but as you said there is a Trinity River and in the past there was also an ancestral Trinity River which geologists and geomophologists talk about.

If there is a river, then by definition there is a valley. It doesn't have to have a steep sides, or a name on a map, etc. It is the river valley and that is usually where the name is applied in a general or regional sense.

So the Trinity Valley is located southeast of Dallas, Texas and there have been several places and organizations which use the name "Trinity Valley" to identify themselves such as the Trinity Valley Athletics, Trinity Valley bank, Trinity Valley Community College, etc.
