I had my daughter at 35 weeks..so it's definitely not too early, but at your prenatal visit just make sure you ask your doctor so you know what the status is. Also ask them how much you are dilated so that if you are dilated any at all you can take it easy for a bit. My daughter wasn't very early but she was still in the NICU for a month and she had to go back to Scottish Rite several times for surgeries and such. To let you know what contractions feel like, it is like someone is squeezing the inside of your stomach really hard, then letting go, then doing it again, etc.. The center of your stomach will get really hard at the peak of the contraction then it will go soft when the contraction goes away. Please make sure if you are having contractions that you are very careful about what you do at work because you should be at least 38 weeks before you have the baby. I just wouldn't want anyone to go through what I had to go through with my daughter, it is too painful to see them hooked up to a bunch of tubes and not knowing if they are going to make it or not.

Nope. Why would it be. Women normally deliver between 38 and 40 to 42 weeks, right? You can possibly have your baby early. Alot of people do. Except me. My son actually came 2 weeks late, and I was induced. I never had braxton hicks with him. Not once. I never felt a contraction until labor. Now, my twin girls, I had false labor in my back twice. They came 2 weeks early, but by c-section. Pressure is the baby's head on your pelvis bone. The baby probably turned last night is all, making it looked like you dropped. Do you think you have? You will know when you do. Your colthes will fit differently. The cramps were probably gas. The best way for me to describe the first hour to hour and a half of contractions is like a period cramp. Right down in your pelvic area. Feels like your fixing to start your period. Always call your doctor for stuff like that. You could also have an infection. GOOD LUCK!

Just because you baby dropped does not mean that you will be going into labor - there are times that the baby may drop and it could take you weeks to go into labor. You should call your doctor if you are having contractions consecutively (every 15 minutes or so) - and you will be able to tell when you are having "contractions" as the pain is too severe to go unnoticeable. Feeling the pressure and cramps may be normal unless they are accompanied by (1) bleeding (2) stomach pain (3) contractions (4) you do not feel your baby move or (5) if you feel that your baby is pushing down as if he/she is going to be coming out and you cannot control it - remember though, it is better to be safe than sorry and if you simply have a general feeling that something is just not "right" go to the doctor. Good Luck! =)

your baby may have been dropping not dropped. My stomache has changed 3 times since the baby is supposed to be dropping. Read up about engagment and stations. Then your next visit you'll be able to now sorta whats going on and were the baby is. I was -2 station and 50% effaced lasttime I am hoping for 70% effaced and 0 station next visit...(Tuesday). After your baby drops to a complete 0 you have aout 4 to 6 weeks. So you could still go full term. In later pregnancies if you drop you pretty much go into labor right then. -4 is a floater 0 is at the pelvic bone and +4 you are pushng it out. Its measured in cm.

Not if you've been carrying low to begin with, that's the only place for the baby to go! :) I carried low with my first one and when I dropped my friends laughed that they thought they needed to carry a basket around behind me to catch him because it looked like he would drop out any minute. I literally waddled! It felt like I was carrying a bowling ball around (lots of pressure) and one wrong move it was going to drop and roll out onto the floor. lol
If the pressure increases and you start to have back pain I would call the doctor. It could be back labor.
If the baby has dropped and you don't give birth for a couple of weeks be prepared for 'conehead' baby. Their soft little head will shape to the birth canal and they'll look like coneheads when they're born. Perfectly normal because of where they've been and their heads will round out in time. We laughed because our son was so coneheaded that his little hospital cap kept rolling up, it wouldn't stay on his head. lol
Good luck honey and congratulations! :)

I dropped weeks before I had my baby. It's a sign the end of the pregnancy is near, but it doesn't mean the baby will be coming right away. Unfortunately, it is the most uncomfortable part of the pregnancy, and you probably won't feel good again until the critter is born. God bless you and your child. I hope you both stay well.

Surely he wasn't serious? If so, I'd find a new doc. I'm only 21 weeks and sometimes I can hear the heartbeat in two totally different locations in my abdomen but there's no doubt that there's only 1. A medical professional should know the difference.

Could be that your baby is getting ready to enter the world. Just cos you have "dropped " doesn't mean you are about to go into labour. It will happen soon though. 34 weeks is fine to go into labour . So dont worry.
My friend "dropped " at about 34 weeks and she only gave birth at 41 weeks . If you are having back ache go to a doctor. When you are in Labour you will know about it , believe me.
If you still not sure go to your doctor. Just to make sure.

I dropped with my son around 34 weeks but he wasnt born until 42 weeks . I had lots of pressure, felt like I had to squeeze to keep him in. No conehead, he was perfect....just a little stubborn. (still is and he's 13 y/o)
