square root of 5/9 = square root of 5 divided by 3
(square root of 5)/3

4square root of 5/16 = (4square root of 5)/ 2

if you raise 2^4 it = 16.

if you have a TI83 calculator or higher, you can do these on there.

just type in 4
then go to math
scroll down to the 5th option x[square root sign]
press enter
then type in the number that is under the square root sign
hit enter, and it gives it to you

the only thing is if the number under the square root sign does not have an answer to 4[square root sign] then it will just give you a decimal, so if you have a fraction, try to find each number individually, and then put them back together.

And remember that when simplifying fractions with a square root, you can't leave square roots on the bottom of a fraction

And if you dont have a TI83 calculator or higher, i suggest you get one because it makes things a lot easier especially in higher level classes like calculus. Just if you havent taken the SAT/ACT yet, dont get the TI89 or higher because they dont allow you to use those on the test. you can get on of the TI83 or TI84 at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, pretty much any big company like that.

Sqrt(5/9) = { Sqrt(5) } / { Sqrt(9) } = sqrt(5)/3

Rule: sqrt(a+b-c) can not separate
but
sqrt(a*b/c) = sqrt(a)*sqrt(b) / sqrt(c)
4sqrt(5/16) = 4 sqrt(5) / sqrt(16) = 4 sqrt(5) / 4 =sqrt(5)
