I've always thought this looked awesome, and like something I could really enjoy. I've heard people say they love it and I've had friends tell me I just *have* to try it. I'd like to know, though, how much it costs on average. I'm on a tight budget so I'm not sure if I could afford it.

So my question is, about how much would I need to fork out to get started playing this game, and to keep playing? And is it worth it?

It will cost you 20 bucks to get the game. You have to buy the game because it contains the access code that you will need if you want to play the game. Then it will costs you another 40 bucks for the expansion: The Burning Crusade. You don't have to get the Burning Crusade because you're probably going to be level 1, and Crusade ups the max level from 60 to 70, but at some point, you should get the BC so you can explore new areas. Then there's the monthly fee, which is 15 bucks a month. So, if you're on a tight budget, MMORPG probably isn't the thing for you because it can be quite costly.

If you want to play a MMORPG, consider Guild Wars. You don't have to pay a monthly fee, but you get to play with people all across the world. It's not as good as WoW, but it's still a really good alternative to WoW.

It's hours and hours of fun but it can become addiction.
The game card costs around $30 and it lasts 2 months. It's worth it if you have a LOT of time to spare
