There are people in America like Oprah and Bill Gates who are trying to change the world. But when countries think of America, they tend to think about our problems. Obesity, the war on terror, George Bush, greediness.. they focus on the bad things. Most of the people in the US are nice. We have little control over what the government does. If we did, our country would be a lot different.

People outside the US are certianly not jealous of our idiot president.
We used to laugh at Blair, Bush, and Berlusconi -- 3 clowns --
but now Berlusconi got the boot, Blair is about to go to jail for selling royal titles and Bush -- ah yes, Mr. Bush, the Presidential Rich Boy Whiner . . .
Well, once the Republicans join the Democrats and vote against him this week, Bush will be almost irrelevent.

I'm an American as well as a British citizen and have lived in Greece and Poland. I don't think people outside America are "jealous" of America. Many people in Europe are quite anti-war and/or left-wing, or they resent America's global dominance and political hegemony. The anti-war people see America as an aggressor, an international bully. Left-wing people are opposed to America because of its environmental and human rights violations.

Most people in foreign countries will tell you that they hate americans. I don't think its so much the american, but the government way of thinking on the whole. too many americans think that they are too good for everyone and only when they are hurting do they cry the blues. Hurricane Katrina for example. Cant say much about that.

What a great question. Here's my take on it. Not everyone is busy being jealous of Americans because they are way too busy trying to find food to feed their dying children. No slam on you, I know how great it is to be an American as compared to let's say one of the 28,000 children that will die of hunger today.
God blessed you and I more than we ever understand.
Peace be with you

Makes sense to me. Why do you think a lot of immigrants, illegal and otherwise are anxious to come here.
Freedom, opportunity, etc. There are a lot of people born and raised here who complain about the U.S. I say they should move to another country then if they aren't happy here.
WELCOME to AMERICA.
May GOD bless you and yours.
